Star Thresholds & What They Mean
Recommended vs Four-Star vs Five-Star bands — and why staff tests pass at 90%.
Composite score bands used for readiness planning in this application (aligned to commonly published FTG-style thresholds):
• **Five-Star (≥ 90%)** — Outstanding, highly customized service; facilities and product at the top of luxury. This is Mr C Coconut Grove's target. Staff assessments require **90%** (9 of 10 correct) to certify at this bar.
• **Four-Star (≥ 82%)** — Exceptional service and facilities with fewer misses on high-impact standards. Strong, but not yet Five-Star consistency.
• **Recommended (≥ 72%)** — Excellent service and facilities; still short of star-level consistency.
• **Below Recommended** — Too many objective misses to project a published recommendation.
How the bands differ in practice: - Recommended → Four-Star: Close chronic timing and cleanliness misses; stabilize high-impact standards (check-in ≤5 min, luggage ≤10 min, request ≤10 min, no water spots). - Four-Star → Five-Star: Elevate personalization, anticipation, cross-department preference travel, and Sense of Luxury details until misses are rare.
Staff assessment rule: pass at 90% even though Recommended is 72% and Four-Star is 82% — we train everyone to the Five-Star knowledge standard.
